Imagine, for one minute, having to face night after night of bedding down in a shop doorway, often hungry, thirsty, and scared, with no access to the basics like running water, fresh food, clean clothes or a toilet and washing facilities.
Then imagine that for several nights that you have been subjected to violence from passers-by, who, rather than help a fellow human being, spit, kick, punch and ridicule you.
While you are in that state of imagination, try and picture how desperate you have become. How your physical and mental health must be suffering.
Now, picture a way out. This is the struggle that thousands of people go through every day.
